Agents operate in disguise as Arabs and harass civilians, including minors, for alleging unproven crimes
Israel Musta’ribeen's counterterrorism forces, known for their high brutality, are said to be operating with secret units against Palestinian civilians. The complaint is human rights groups in Gaza to the Qatari agency Al-Jazeera.
The agents, members of the Tel Aviv security forces, operate in disguise as Arabs in their dress, language and customs while killing civilians by alleging unproven crimes.
"Soldiers come to Ramallah almost every night after 2 am to make arrests," said Shawan Jabareen, leader of the human rights organization Al-Haq. According to him, the officers kill whoever is circulating in the streets and prevent ambulances accessing the seriously injured.
Most of the dead are young people accused by officials of "armed attacks against Israeli soldiers and settlers". “Around 95% of deaths were unnecessary,” said Jabareen. At least 28 Palestinians were killed in the West Bank alone by Israeli security forces in May.
There are also reports of plainclothes agents removing people the streets, including minors. "This makes prisons look like kidnappings," said the Public Committee Against Torture in Israel (Pcati).
The secret units are still involved in the Palestinian detention campaign in northern Israel. The operation comes in the wake of protests against the violence of Tel Aviv forces in East Jerusalem to expel Palestinians their homes.
Hundreds of Palestinians have been detained since the protests, reported Turkish broadcaster TRT. Still, in a report released in early May, the human rights group B’Tselem points out that none of the Israeli agents responsible for the arrests and deaths of Palestinians faced charges.
The sample includes 739 cases of Tel Aviv soldiers who killed, injured, damaged property or used Palestinians as a human shield the beginning of the second Intifada, in 2000, until 2015
